No previous firearms experience is required. The course combines classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and the written and practical examinations required after the instructional portion.

Hi, I’m Gord Penner.
Gord is an RCMP-designated Firearms Safety Instructor who has been teaching since 2018. His classes are designed to make new learners feel comfortable while keeping the focus on safe handling, responsible use, and practical understanding.

Good to know before you book.
The current site states that the minimum age is 12 for the Non-Restricted course. Ages 18 and up can take the restricted course after completing the non-restricted course first.
The Non-Restricted course includes 8 hours of instruction. Written and practical testing follows and can add additional time after class.
Bring government-issued photo ID, a notebook or paper, and a pen. The current course information also asks students not to bring firearms or ammunition.
